    Hey Folks
I've been looking for my first Maverick and have received some photos of a Comet for sale. The part highlighted by the red circle---is this simply a worn out shock absorber bushing ? Or could it indicate a bigger suspension problem ? I also realize that the export braces have been removed
    Thanks for any input

It's the shock, probably needs to be replaced. Depending on the car, you'll probably be in for a front suspension rebuild at some point.

Weird, my 76 parts car has the same prop rod my 73 has. Is it like a split year thing?

The shocks needs replacing. I had the same problem. I can't say nothing else is wrong w/ the suspension , but I do know the shock bushing is deformed. The cheaper shocks are made so the bushing can slide in bushing housing. I replaced them w/ KYB'S and the difference was apparent right out of the box.
