    It gets much more complex than that when you consider the sheer mass, weight, and velocity of the air and fuel. Then we get into heated gas dynamics and the way it affects all those spent mixtures.

    All that equates to what's called the "5th cycle". Which is why an engine of specific sizing can move more mass than its displacement would normally allow.
