Will the hooker 6901 work with a manual tranny......3 speed toploader. Both the hooker and headman headers state automatic trans only.

The fit on Hookers seems to be all over the place, I ran Hedmans for years, with no issues.

Headmans are much tighter fitting to the block, but the Hookers are better flowing due to the wider angle off the head at the flange.....

I have Hooker 6901s with manual steering and a top loader 4 speed and everything fits fine... but tight.

Yes, they are long tubes. I had to jack the engine left and right to get them up in there from the bottom and like I mentioned they are tight. The manual steering pitman arm will contact the header on a hard left turn. I noticed on the Blackjack headers I had on my first Maverick that the pitman eventually creased the tube. Here's a couple of pictures.

I just posted this question, then saw this thread that also applies. Do the Hooker headers fit so close that they will cause fitment issues w/ a 164 tooth bell housing? Headman? In the pictures they look pretty darn close. Even to the point of touching...

Shorty, it looks like you may have the wrong clutch fork. It looks too long.

    Speedy,
Mine has the 164 tooth flywheel and 11" clutch but we couldn't get the Lakewood bell housing that I bought in there with the Hooker 6901s. Another project for down the road - I wanted to drive the darn thing this year.
John, you may be right but it seems to be working fine so far. The fork lines up with the factory-type linkage I have in there. This z-bar is one that I bought from one of the members (Raymond, IIRC) and is far more stout than factory parts.
