I am new to the forum and apoligize if I'm not using it right. Anyway, I had an orange 1970 Maverick back in High School and now have purchased one to rebuild to take to my grave. I have it stripped to the "frame" and ready for a little welding and priming by a local shop guy. It is in very good shape, but I need some quick advice before I send it off. Here are my near term needs:

    1) The left inner fender apron in front of the shock tower is damaged from a collision. It is minor, but the shop guy wants me to find the part if possible. The closest I see is a 71-73 Mustang, but even that will require some modifying. Any better ideas?

    2) The floor pan has some minor rust underneath the back seat seam (near where the feet would be on the back floor). What is the best matching floor pan for this area. The Torque Box and remaining pan is fine.

    3) The guy painting wants to color match the primer and underside finish. I think the color from my 1970 or 71 was called Calypso Coral or Ford M1730. Can anyone confirm that since I want this to be an exact match to my High School car. I am attaching a photo from an old ad. That is what I had and want to match.

    Thanks!

If you have minor wrinkles in the apron, I would suggest taking it to a frame shop and having it checked.
I had a wrinkle behind the tower on the right side. A frame shop was able to pull it straight and work the crease out. Both front rails were a little bent from a collision. Now, everything is in spec. It is a lot simpler to do this than replace an entire apron.
Also, they would be able to check the entire car and make sure there is not something you are unaware of. Look to spend about $500 to have them set it up and do a small pull. Worth the money if you plan to keep it.

    Welcome from Ky.
That advice from Micah is some of the best advice a person could get.

:Welcome: from Atlantic Canada! BTW, be careful with looking at colours on the internet. The picture you attached to your original post looks an awful lot like an edited picture of Shawn Simpson's car, NOT necessarily the factory Calypso Coral you're looking for.

And if the apron cannot be starightened and fixed like Micah said, you could always post a wanted ad for a rust-free apron off a donor car. There are several members here on this board that have access to good donor cars. I purchased a rust-free cowl from Craig, and it was way easier than trying to make patches and modify Mustang sheet metal to fit.

There were also some NOS shock tower/whole apron sides for sale on e-bay a while ago, but I don't see any listed now. They were going for around $400.
