Are the upper mounting bolts for the retractor different sizes from year to year? I went to install and the bolt that came with the belt is too big for the upper but is the same size for the lower.

And now the dumb question. I only find two mounting points. One on the floor at the back of the front seat and the upper one at the "B" pillar. Where should the third one be?? I pulled the rear trim panel and I didn't find anything.

If it's for your older Maverick or Comet in your signature line they don't have a mounting hole for the 4th point where the retractors would go. The older models were all 3 point mounting. Not sure when they changed but newer ones have them.

LOL. Not looking for a 4th....Looking for the location of the 3rd.

On my '73, there is the B pillar mount (for the shoulder belt) and the inner rocker panel mount (for the lap belt retractor). The lap belt retractor connects to the shoulder belt and clips into the buckle which is bolted to the transmission tunnel mount (to make the 3rd point). Is that the setup you have?

That is an aftermarket seat belt setup, so you may have to add the 3rd point yourself. Or the 3rd point uses the 1st point hole to bolt to?

Sorry I was just trying to help. On "newer" models the shoulder belt retractor is next to the rear seat under a trim panel hence the "4th" mounting location. Good luck finding your hole!

No problem..Found what I thought was the 3rd mounting spot for the retractor next to the rear seat under the trim panel. but it is a eyelet where the inner and outer wheel well attach to each. Not good for a seat belt anchor. And nothing in the floor area.
So with that in mind. Not cutting a slit in the trim panel for the belt either. So I'm going to stay with just a lap belt.

    Thanks for the input.

That set up should go from the retractor, bolted to the floor just behind the front seat, up to the extension connected above the quarter window, then the buckle and back to the same spot the retractor is bolted. It will make a triangle with the start and finish at the retractor.
    Hope that helps.

Thanks, That is what I thought and that is what I'm trying to find out. Does the retractor body and the very end mount in the same place? The aftermarket one states that they are NOT suppose to.

Also now I'm trying to find out if there are two different sizes of bolts for the mount at the "B" pillar. The aftermarket one uses the same size bolts for all locations (they state that the belt works up 1971) but mine at the "B" pillar is smaller than the one by the back of the front seat floor. So I'm thinking that my car body might be a newer model and the vin tag on the "B" pillar has been altered. The aftermarket copy shows a different belt assy. for 1972-up.

That looks like set up from www.seatbeltplanet.com , #1 retractor bolts to rocker panel beside your front seat, along with #3 anchor. #2 is for shoulder belt harness bolts up on roof/pillar, if yours is early model, will be further back above the rear quarter window.
You can check out my gallery as I have similar set up from seatbeltplanet.
I have the extensions for the shoulder belt harness, same style as OEM...

Different company but similar. The company stated in the instructions that the retractor has to be mounted directly down from the "B" pillar mount so the retractor will work. I think it is because of the check ball inside. If that is the case than there is nothing factory to mount to. I did however go to there site and found brackets that can be mounted to the floor. But I decided to not cut the trim panel to run the belt throught and stay with just a lap belt. Hopefully I don't have any problems with the cops.
