I'm in the middle of installing an early '70 factory air conditioning in my '74. It is not 3-day project...I'm going on week three now. Had to drill new holes for the heater hoses and drain hose. The factory was kind enough to mark the locations for the holes...look for a small dimple in the sheet metal. The AC box used one hole that the heater box used but the others were used to hold the firewall insulation The blower fan switch is different, also had to cut the back half of the selector lever off the heater control to fit the vacuum switch. You will need to plug the lower heater hose hole and the vacuum hose's grommet will go where the top heater hose is now. I think an aftermarket AC might be more easy to install.

hey man nice maverick. the answer to your question is you can do it but its rather difficult. you will need the ac mounting bracket the ac of course, you will have to figure out how to put the return hoses through the fire wall if it dosnt already have a way, you will need the control switches that mount next to the headlight switch and cables have to put in the dash board so you will need a bracket to hold that plus the proper fuses and wires, it all depends on how bad you want ac. i personally prefer just rolling down the windows but the heater is crucial to defrost and defog the windows wich can be a pain while your driving. the way mine works is the element and fan work together wich means you set the temperature then turn the dash fan on to blow it through the car, theres only one vent in the middle of the top part of the dash. im sure you can find all the necessary parts online for cheap, good luck man and dont give up, its worth it.

Thank you, and its really just an idea for the future really. I have so much more to do first lol. Needs floor pans, trans installed, motor wired up, ect... Lol. But i did just make a deal for a spotless regular hood, a grabber hood thats in ok shape( has a few dings) and a set of sport mirrors lol
