Hi all! Been having some issues keeping my 75 on the road lately. It is my dd, and his issues started just running down the road and it would cut off, I could slip it into neutral and start it right back up and continue on my way. We have changed the coil, spark plugs, ignition module (2 times), distributor cap and rotor and finally the entire distributor. Well, I am broken again, only thing different is now it will not start, it turns over, but no start, not even a chug. It has run really well for the last 2 weeks, after we changed the distributor, but I was driving it on Friday, running sweet, and the engine light came on, car shut off, and it has not started again.

check power in run mode, if dash lights came on it lost power to the coil/ ignition module.

Bad ignition switch? How would I go about testing it?
I think I just need to find a shop that will fix it for me, I don't know what I am doing!

Have you verified there is no ignition spark?.. Those symptoms could also describe a dirty/clogged fuel filter...

I had just filled it with gas :/ I sent it to a shop in Pensacola to be fixed properly, I don't know enough about the ignition system to try to figure it out. I will definitely let you all know how it turns out! Thank you all for your ideas! :)

I dont trust shops anymore. Good, old school mechanics are hard to find these days. Seems like all anyone wants to do is hook up a computer and let it tell them what is wrong. I try to do all I can and if I dont know how, I learn. Good luck with your issue, I hope they figure it out for you.

I know, I feel the same way, but I am no mechanic, I just fumble through, and I don't want to mess my car up any more than I already may have. There is a 'guy' at the shop I sent it to that is an old school mechanic and a classic Ford enthusiast, he was actually excited to talk with my hubby about the issues I am having. Ya know, my hubby asked several shops that are MUCH closer and no one was even willing to look at it. I will learn more as I go, but I really need my car back on the road quickly, it is my daily driver. :)
