Ok I put a UV reactive dye in my engine oil to find my valve cover leak/s, and I did find it is leaking on the middle lower bolt down onto the headers, this dye was yellow and easy to spot, but the puzzling part was a sort of orange colored dye stain on my carb and intake directly under my carb, does gasoline contain a dye? I didn't put any in my Grabber ever! I did have a carb leak a while back, but I put no dye in, so where did it come from?:hmmm:

I doubt it's anything worth worrying about. It's likely just the light picking up the color differential between the area on the carb where the factory dichromate finish has been worn away due to a long term fuel weep.

But its all over the base of the carb and the intake, I mean I don't have a fuel leak now, just seems to have stained it from an earlier time, I did use some 90 octane non ethanol fuel around a month ago, just wondering if it might have had dye in it, thinking I am just gonna change the carb and base gasket anyhow, strange things you find when you put a UV light on your engine.

Crank case venting? AC freon and oil contain dye also, if you have AC..

No a/c on my car, that would be nice and  the dye I put in the crankcase was bright yellow, this is an orange dye trail, can't see anything in normal light, just the UV lights it up and it becomes highly visible, I was thinking maybe the former owner of the carb had maybe used dye, but then it's on my intake so it had to be put through while on my engine, and I built and painted the engine so it had to come from fuel at the time of my carb leak, a lot of strange things with this engine have been going on, remember it put itself in the car while I was having lunch :rofl2:
