Putting disk brakes from a 74 or 75 Maverick on a 71 Maverick, my question is which front suspension rebuild kit would I use? This one for the 70-72 http://www.laurelmountainmustang.co...erick-performance-steering-and-suspension-kit or this one for the 73-74 http://www.laurelmountainmustang.co...erick-performance-steering-and-suspension-kit. Only difference I see is the 70-72 has the idler arm and cost more?
Tom, I would go ahead with the 70-72 kit... only $45 more for the new idler compared to the other kit. Melvins Classic Ford gets $75 for the idler and Autokrafters gets $89.95... JMO
I was less than impressed with the lower control arms that came in my kit, problem is they are the same one Moog now sells... For '75-'77 linkage the idler is a off the shelf item, same was used on Granada...
They were a slight different between the 74 and the 75 disc brake spindles. Don't know what it was...other than the part number on the spindle. But both years used the same ball joints. The difference could be in the calipers.
If you can find them: 1974-1977 Maverick/Comet disc brakes. Optional in 1974-1975.....Standard on ALL Mavericks/Comets 1976-1977. Also Granada/Monarch disc brakes (from the late 1970 Granada's/Monarch's) Otherwise, look here: www.DiscBrakeSwap.com
