1 when shifting from 2 to 3 there is a big gap almost like 3rd is gone but after about 1.5-2 seconds it goes into 3rd, happens every time it upshifts...
2 if i take off with more than 1/4 throttle the Trans tries to shake the car to death
3 i have no reverse or 3rd until the car is completely warmed up... though reverse doesn't wait as long since i replaced the vacuum modulator.

Any ideas I'm at my limit on auto Trans knowledge.

I was afraid of that... is there any way to tell what else outside of a master rebuild kit I would need? Or is that a take it apart and see thing?

Have you checked the band adjustment and servos?? These can be checked without removing transmission...

Delayed engagement can be because of loose valvebody bolts...

3rd and reverse use the same clutch pack.

Pressure leaks past cold seals but once everything is warmed seals expand.

    Yank the sucker.

That would be negative the only car/truck part I am leary of fiddling with the guts of is an automatic transmission.
