hi guys, well i pulled the head off my 200 to get it rebuilt and figured i would clean up the rest of the engine bay and paint it because i plan on painting my car this summer. Well not thinking i pulled the distributor out.... and didn't mark it first... :slap: So now i need your help to re-install it and get the timing correct. Also, not sure if it makes a difference but the head is still off the car.

    thanks, Jakob

You also can do it quite easily with the head off. Put the first cylinders pushrods into the lifters. With a socket wrench on the crankshaft bolt, turn the engine clockwise. Watch the pushrods. When the second pushrod (from the front) rises and falls, continue turning the engine clockwise until the front piston is all the way at the top. Your timing indicator (on the pulley) should read "0". Then just follow "71gold's" instructions. Be aware that the rotor will turn as you insert the distributor. You may have to pull it back out and turn it one tooth back to get it right. :)
