Did anyone see the nice 72 Comet GT at the Mecum auction in Kansas City. Not sure if it was a replica since it had the wrong grill. Sold for $15k
It was on Ebay a few weeks back. They were asking $26,900 for it, but sold it for $19,900. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261476802606?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
anyone notice the tail lights are the wrong year? they have the big back up lights original 72 backup lights are smaller and someone said something about the wrong grill. someone got a nice looking car but OVER PAID by a TON. but then again theres a sucker born every minute!
The reverse lights were discussed in the thread that was started when the car first showed up on Ebay. I agree someone overpaid, but some people have plenty of money and when they see what they want they shell it out.
excellent point. I didnt think about that. if you got the money to spare and find something you want ........WHY NOT
The washer nozzles and hardware are painted over. Washer tubes are missing as well as the cowl seal. I shouldn't be able to pick that out on a 20000 dollar Comet.
Can't believe how terrible the condition of that steering wheel is. Granted, it's easy to replace, but for that price, it should be nearly flawless. Sporty-looking car though.
We Comet owners know the small reverse light lens was a 71-72 thing only. However I do not have a Mercury parts manual so I do not know the exact cut-off date of when Ford switched to the larger reverse lens. Depending on the cut-off date and the month of manufacture, those may still be correct for that vehicle? Anyone have a Mercury parts manual and able to provide the cutoff date between the smaller and larger lenses?
