Hey all, I have a guy whose willing to do some laser cutting for me and I need some quick measurements from you... really I just need to know the distance between the spring eye at the front of the leaf spring, and the point at which the leaf spring goes from 1 to 2 leaves.

If noone can answer by tommorow morning Ill take a stab in the dark.

    Thanks in Advance

Oh and, the size of the plate that goes under the spring by the axle.

For those in the know, and those that aren't, I'm trying my hand at making some caltrac style traction bars.

I have a few 3/4 inch spherical rod ends kicking around, and I figure, since the guy is gonna cut and supply the steel for me for 20$...

Are there not plans for these all over the internet?

Sure are, havent found any Mav/Comet (or even stang) Specific ones and the bushing that pushes down should ideally be located at the halfway point of the weakest point of the spring. Thats why I'll just take a shot in the dark and say about 5 inches if nobody can tell me

on mine it was 3" that put the leverage bar 1/2 way between the eye and the end of second leaf.
cal tracs doesnt consider this. they use the same distance on all their kits. im sure if you get in ball park they will work

Alright thanks, I drew up the cad file really quickly and dropped it off using a 3 inch space. Might do a write up, not sure if there would be interest though

What are you planning on using for your tube? I think I used either 1" or 1.25" DOM .25 wall for mine. Then just tapped each end and installed the rod ends that way. You'll also need a left handed tap if you don't already.

No real plan for those yet, gonna see if I can't find osmehting kicking around to use (youd be surprised) but if not Ill probably go to the same guys who are making my harness bar for me at the University Machine Shop and ask them to make it for me out of DOM tubing. Tubing Benders, etc are a blessing

If I'm feeling ambitious Ill just ask for the tube and weld in some bungs
