I know, there are a ton of people asking how to install temp gauges in their I6 equipped Mavericks but my situation is a little different. I have a buddy who owes me a few bucks and I know he has a temp gauge from 1960 Chevy of some sort that he's looking to sell. Since I'm trying to build the ultimate low budget street/track car, I think that old temp gauge would fit in nicely with my build and would square us up. Does anyone have an idea as to what I'd need for a sending unit to make it work with my 250 I6? Here are some pics for reference.
I think the easiest way would be to take the correct sending unit and adapt it to fit the maverick block. The sending unit would hook up to the gauge like it should and you just need to adapt the threads to bolt in to your ford block ( if they aren't already the same anyways, not sure about that ).
I agree. Get a sending unit for the car the gauge came out of, and find a bushing (usually brass) that will adapt that fitting to your engine.
It isn't likely to work even with the sending unit for the gauge, probably also need the voltage regulator in the dash of the Chevy... That is if it's a bi-metal type, if it's a real DC movement then it will probably work...
