King is a high quality bearing. They have a good reputation for being very tight on tolerances.

The Old Clevite "77" bearings changed many years ago and haven't ever recovered their earlier quality. They were producing them in India for several years and had so many that would not pass inspection they finally brought manufacturing back to the US. The materials have changed in bearing construction since the '70's. My brother-in-law is a press operator for Mahle (and makes nothing but engine bearings), the company that has acquired Clevite bearings. They have also had the Dana name at times. Things seem to have gotten better with "Clevite" since Mahle got control and production returned to the US.

Nothing wrong with King bearings. I've used them, Clevite and Federal-Mogul without issues. King also makes all aluminum bearings for certain applications. Make sure you are getting a tri-metal bearing.
