Any thoughts on a Holley 670 carb on my 289? The motor bored 40 over, speed pro forged pistons with molly rings, crank turned .010, comp cams double roller chain, clevite bearings, lunati springs & retainers, stock rods with arp bolts, crane cams 1:6 aluminum roller rockers, crane cam (264 dur. and 480 lift), ford motorsport windage tray, summit racing headers and a weiand stealth hi-rise. Should I just stick with my Road Demon 625cfm carb or add a Street Avenger 670cfm?
How does it run? If the current carb runs fine, I would leave it alone and invest the money somewhere else.
yep.. a 289 with a medium sized cam isn't going to feel like that was money well spent unless there's something wrong with the current carb in the first place.
Not a fan of the street avenger. Maybe I just got a bad one, but hated it. After I swapped it for a quick fuel, and found out how the motor should run, I hated the street avenger even more.
Nothings wrong with the carb! Runs great! Its been jetted and tuned for Colorado altitude! I was just thinking the 670 would add a lil more oomf. But I'll just keep it the way it is! Fast lil maverick too with that lil 289, a lot more power than the 302 I had lol
You probably won't gain a thing unless, as stated above, there is a problem with the BG carb. I wouldn't use a BG, had bad experiences with them on dynos not giving a good fuel curve across the RPM range. I would just stay with what you have. The 289 will probably never even use the full amount available to it unless you are turning it really hard, like above 7500RPM. SPark SPark
