Hi Everyone! i'm looking at solving an issue with my tranny. I found a crater in one of the pipes and fixed that one, but after fixing that i found a crack in the part that my tranny dipstick plugs into. I have NO IDEA what this part is called which makes finding a replacement difficult. Its literally gushing out transmission fluid a few millimeters where the dipstick slides into. Hopefully replacing this gets the thing to go back into gear.
The dipstick tube has an o-ring where it slides into the case. Sounds like yours is bad or missing altogether.
Took a little longer to get back to this thread but here is a picture! The tag on the part is faded and worn to the point its not readable. The tube is attached to the unit and is not removable. This is the right point to dump tranny fluid into right?
Power Steering pump That is the Power Steering pump reservoir. Your automatic transmission fluid dipstick is on the passenger side by the firewall.
I knew something funky was afoot!! I pulled the dipstick out and it said use type F tranny fluid on it and figured I was the silly one for doubting that was the right spot for tranny fluid. Thanks for the help!
