6cly to 302

    Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me if a six cly to 302 is a direct bolt in swap, or is there alot to change? Thanks. Dennis

    302 Bolt In

    Pretty much a easy swap, need V8 mtr and frame mounts, a V8 throttle cable( can use the six but will have to loop it some). Dbl. hump rear crossmember if duals are used, and maybe a V8 radiator. Have used the six cyl one with no problems but depends on situation. Other upgrades such as rear end ratio and disc brakes are just minor options. Might be forgetting something but others will be able to steer you right.

    '71 Comet GT V8, 1972 Maverick Grabber V8, 1972 Maverick Sprint V8, 1974 Maverick Drag-N-Fly V8, 1972 Maverick 4-door V8, & 1977 Comet 4-door I6. Also a 1969 T-Bird 429-V8
    Bell housing

    Note: Only the 250 six cylinder bell housing is the same as the 302's. (The 170 and 200 bellhousing is different).

    Thanks for the info guy's, I really want a maverick bad just wanted to find out what my options were berfore i buy thanks again. Dennis

    the 6cly c4 trans only has a 3 clutch drums they will slip with a 302 you need to find a v-8 trans 70 -81 26 spline 10.5 bolt pattern(dipstick in case) 85 up 302 you will need 50 oz flexplate 28 oz 84 down need any help i can save you lots of time thanks ivy if you cant find trans i have a set of v-8 4-5 clutch drums
