I just found a set of wheels that I was told came off a fox body Mustang . Will they fit my 75 Maverick? Theyre both 5 lug.

What's the back spacing? You'll probably need some sorta spacers.

I never knew that Fox-body Mustangs had 5-lug wheels.

and the cobra was the only one that got 17s. but 5 lug conversions are very popular and affordable on the fox bodies so 5 lug aftermarket wheels are plentiful.

wheel spacers will be necessary. i would guess that spacers around 3/4" to 1" will work. to get a better idea on the spacers needed we would need to know the width and the back spacing of the wheels

My 75 had similar wheels when I bought it. I removed them, I think it was 1 inch spacers all way round. Made the car ride like a covered wagon.

I definitely don't want it to ride like that. I guess I will go a different way.

you cant just assume that 17" wheels will make it ride like a covered wagon. (ive never ridden in a covered wagon so i really dont even know what they feel like, but i assume that its rough). to properly set up the car with 17" wheels the spring rates need to be changed and or the shocks to ones with proper valving.
i personally like the more positive feel that a lower profile tire gives a car.

You are right Bryant. I did not want to go through all that so I just put some 15 x 7 rims on and called it a day. I will admit the the 17's filled out the wheel wells much better.

Bryant is right again as usual. On my daily driven lowered Ranger during the summer I replace my 7" x 15" stock rims & 70 series tires with 9" x 17" & 10.5" x 17" wheels wearing 45 & 35 series tires, respectively. The truck takes on a completely different personality. It rides much firmer and I more actively avoid road hazards. But it also goes around corners like it's on rails! Recently I got to drive a friend's 2014 'Vette with similar aspect ratio tires. The suspension is engineered to work in conjunction with those wheels/tires and does not ride as stiff as my truck - even in "Sport" mode. Another friend's lowered S-10, on the other hand, rides like a log wagon even with 60 series tires.
