Hello, I've been a gear head since 1968, mostly Fords and Mercury's. I don't currently own a Maverick or Comet. However, I do have a drivetrain looking for a home. I'd like to build something a bit different and the Maverick/Comet keeps coming to mind. The engine is a 405 CID Clevor. So, I need advice on front end and tower mods that will result in being able to fit the engine in and have a bit more working space than a 1969 428 Mustang. I really don't want to do things like jacking up the engine to change plugs. Advice on headers would also be welcome. All input will be appreciated. Thanks, Chuck
from Alberta Canada! As for mods I have a boss 302 engine setup, and I just finished notching back my shock towers so I can fit a damn wrench in there to do the plugs.
There are a few ways to accomplish making more room under the hood. Some folks shave the towers, some eliminate them altogether -- all depends on how much time, effort and money ur willing to invest. Do a search on tower modification. Welcome from Northeastern Illinois...
