I just recently had my c4 tranny flushed, put in a new filter (now it has one, old one was just housing) new fluid and new gaskets. Problem is if I get on the gas a lil too much it slips a bit. Would it be beneficial to add a Lucas trans additive to it or could it be the torque converter?

I'd say a rebuild with a new converter would be beneficial.

usually once slipping starts its time for a rebuild. you might be able to try adjusting the band but no guarantee. the lucas additve cant hurt.

Check to make sure it has the correct level of fluid.

Make sure that you are using TYPE F transmission fluid. Any other type of fluid is too slippery. But like Bryant implied...once it slips it's too late.

Thank you all, I kinda figured it was a lil late but was tryin to buy a lil more time. Fluid level and type are all good. I will try the lucas for now. The car is my only transport rite now so when I get enough time I will get a rebuild kit and get it done.

Why was the transmission flushed to start with? Was it slipping and you hoped for a miracle?
On some C4 filters there is a small tab that holds a valve and spring in place. I have seen many fall into the drink and not get installed.

I have heard that you should never flush an old transmission, like after 50k miles. The worn out stuff inside actually works in team with the clutches, and when you wash them away, the clutches slip. You can never get that material back without rebuilding.

Actually there was no filter left in the old stuff and the pan gasket was leaking. The old filter housing was in there without a gasket so im pretty sure sum1 else had been into before i got the car. Put some Lucas treatment into it and that seems to be helping quite a bit.

    Old wives tale...

I've never made a trans worse by changing fluid which includes draining converter... True some were no better and needed work, but never worse...

Had a '75 Granada with C4 that around 75K mi slipped when hot, new fluid fixed it... Last year I flushed what was probably the orig fluid from my '96 F-150 with almost 180K mi, looked like used motor oil(was so rancid it stunk up my garage)... It was shifting hard when hot, been fine since...

That is why I said "I heard...".

Wasn't sure if it was true or not.

I believe a fluid change messed up my 727 trans in my old Dodge van. After the new fluid the transmission slipped very bad. Before I changed the fluid it was fine.

I never mess with that foreign stuff...;)

If there were enough particles in the fluid to make up for missing friction material on bands/clutches, the filter would plug up in before you could get out of your driveway... Even without a filter, the material would settle out of the fluid first time it cooled off...
