Thanks Micah. Well with the limited budget I'm working on looks like I will be keeping the motor stock for now and using the SD and the Lincoln computer for now. Later on I can always upgrade to maf and throw in a cam and converter.
Other than TAD & TAB pinout and of course the addition of MAF connector, harness for MAF & SD are same... The 5.0 Bird harness in my Turbo Coupe started life as SD, I added the MAF connector and used a parallel connection to add the missing connections to the T&T solenoids... In theory I can use either PCM, and did in a 5.0 Stang I once owned that had same mod... I'd heard the stock SD Stangs were a bit faster than the MAF versions, was proved true when mine was over .2 slower on the MAF(felt lazy after swap), with SD PCM back in place it regained the lost time... This was on runs made within 30 minutes of one another with no change in temp, barometric pressure or humidity... I never ran the MAF in it again...
So I guess my question for you crazy is can I just use the lsc harness and pcm and get it to work without going absolutely 100% crazy in the process??
I doubt it, I took one look at the LSC I got my HO 5.0 from and said F this(why I bought the 5.0 parts bird, it's engine was kaput from overheating due to head gasket blown between cyl 1,2 & 3)... As a reference, I serviced TV for almost 40 years a few wires aren't something I'm afraid of... The LSC harness runs down driver side, across radiator support, back up passenger side in into PCM inside vehicle, at that point it continues on into the trunk where ABS and air suspension controllers are located... Also the inertia sw and fuel pump supply are included, that's a separate harness in the Bird... iWhen it's all removed it's like 25ft long, the Stang and 5.0 bird are maybe 8-9ft at most...
I just finished a SD swap from a 91 grand marque using factory harness 5.0 and AOD. Wasn't to bad. PM me if u can't figure something out.
For you guys who have dobe this with long tubes where did u weld in the o2 sensor bungs? Getting mine welded this week and I don't want to screw up location. Thanks. Should have the motor and trans in with mock up done this weekend. I now have the pcm and harness for a maf mustang. Will start working the harness this week. Then just have to source a fuel pump and line.....cold air intake....long battery cable for the battery trunk mount.....an alternator and bracket and I'll be done
You may have some issues with the sensor not being in the stock location: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/o2-sensor-location-in-long-tube-header.845505/ You may need extensions for the harness: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/SVE-1676A/Mustang-SVE-50L-46L-SVE-O2-Sensor-Extensions Micah
So closest to the heads as I possibly can and deal with a rough idle while cold....not too bad of a deal. I was more looking for an answer of 9 o clock position x far away from collector....I don't have the engine or exhaust in the car and I'm scared I'll weld in the bung somewhere I can't install the sensors lol.
