We use to go there starting way back when it was only a couple hundred cars in the school yard down by the beach..... There were always a ton of cars cruising..... They use to do burn outs in front of the La Playa headed north and from the traffic light headed south they would drag race..... Always lots of fun to watch/participate..... The host club always had kegs of beer in the garage of the hotel they gave away until gone.....

We went into the 90's, but stopped just because of the crazy crowds and traffic...... Hell we went for the day around 2001 to find a Coke cooler, we walked the swap meet for about 8 hrs and didn't even put a dent in it..... Be prepared to walk a lot.....

I am sure there is still a good time to be had, but just too damn crowded for me.....

Traffic was heavy .. but not more than usual for this event .. It's that way every year now . If you come in or International Speedway Blvd they have blocked the street off that takes you to the REAR of the Speedway and you
are forced to park in THEIR parking lots in front .. or ... find somewhere else to park .. ( Yeah .. right ) .. You can
avoid this if you come in off Beville and turn left on Williamson and stay in the right lane .. Entry is made through
an open gate there.. Parking is limited but it's Free .. also .. so go early. Lots of beautiful cars , trucks , and bikes everywhere .. Going again tomorrow .. still need a few items for the '70 .

It has grown into the biggest swap meet around. If you go fast through the swap meet, it still takes a full day. Seeing the car show and all the cars for sale can take a second day.

My one friend, that I have gone there with many times, seems compelled to look at every single thing in each booth at the swap meet. On the other hand, if every thing in the booth looks diehard Chevy or Mopar, I am off to the next vendor. So, we are used to travelling through swap meets at different paces. In the days before cell phones, we bought a pair of walkie talkies. They were good for catching up with each other, and great for situations where we might stumble on something the other guy would be interested in. He has as much AMC stuff hoarded as anyone on the planet right now.

Have fun there ... I am in the middle of remodeling our kitchen right now.

That was a fun day! ... I think I have only been there a couple times since, between that and the spring event. Last time I went was with the drummer in my band. All he wanted to do is look at the cars for sale. He changes cars like most people change their socks .... lol ....

I went yesterday it was a really good show. Pretty big this year just make sure you wear shoes you don't like. The ground is really muddy this year and plenty if people were getting stuck yesterday. There are a TON of cars this year, a little tip is if you want see the cars and don't want to walk get on a cart that circles the show and you can get to see all the cars!
