I did the exact swap you're talking about back in '98. I have all the little tips and hints written down somewhere - when I get home to my other computer I'll look it up and post it for you. Sam
You might check out this site: www.fordfuelinjection.com. Its sort of an offroad site but lots of good info.
I am in the process of doing the same thing. I'm 99% complete. The only tip I have to offer is to get with a buddy who knows the EEC's requirements (as it relates to your particular setup) and wine and dine the guy. I don't believe I could've gotten as far as mine is without a buddy of mine's help. I'd like to help but there's a HUGE amount to it (for someone with my limited EEC/electrical knowledge). Other than asking "What all do I need to do?", is there something in particular you need information on (without someone having to type out a book)? I don't mean to be discouraging, but it's a lot of information and without knowing your level of expertise as a mechanic, it might even be insulting to you. But, you really need the advice of someone who can personally tell you (IMO) Good luck.
i worked at a import shop doing motor swaps the electronics im not worried as far a my skills can do almost anything. i was just wondering before starting to make a smoother exchange. i have a full donor car. i was wondering more like exhaust manifolds, oil pan, oil pick up, accesories(power steering, a/c), clearnce, mounts. iwith install this engine just wanted advise before like i said to make a smoother swap thats all thanks vincent
i dont need a book of full detail just known diffrences problems that are of importance tips tricks whatever thanks vincent
Well, as far as the exhaust 'manifold' goes, I believe the stock 95's came with headers. I doubt they'll work on your car. Search the board for 302 Headers - the're are a few that will work for you. Obviously, you'll have to upgrade your fuel lines to withstand the 43+ psi required. You'll also have to run a return line to the tank also. I'd take plenty of photos of the current connections as they are on the donor and use them as go-by's when you get to that point. Good luck.
You will need a front sump oil pan and pick up, oil dip stick that goes in the front cover, v8 frame mounts (if it is not a v8 already). what tranny are you using?
i wiill use the tranny thats in there after a rebuild with stall if it is a c4 that is i was told they came with a c4 and yes already 302 thanks to everyone for all the little tips vincent
