I need to address the rear frame rails and rear spring bushing carrier. I could use some hands-on fabrication discussion or links to available posts on fabrication or adapting similar parts , originality is not a concern.

    thanks

Looking at this, how is the shape of the rest of your car?
I think a donor maverick will need to be purchased or if someone who is parting out a maverick is willing to remove this section for you.

Not to be a Debbie Downer.....but looking at the rest of your pictures....you also need front torque boxes, floorboards, and full rear quarters.....all for starters. It is not just the rust you see.....but all the rust you DON'T see. I think many would suggest (myself included) that you would be MILES ahead by finding another car.

    Thanks for the replies,
    More info appreciated especially pics'

... someone who is parting out a maverick is willing to remove this section for you.
That is one way to go, this could happen but fabb'n from square tube or similar rear rail application probably easier and less expensive since originality isn't important. Available Mustang rails may be adaptable .

... you would be MILES ahead by finding another car.
... probably true , and the guy who sold it to me thought that way, 'guess I'm not ready to let any survivor and titled orphan car be junked so readily.

Sorry, dude, not trying to scare you away from mavs and comets. But many of us have experience in where the rust hits, and you might want to look deeper into this car and see where you have nastiness.

If you did the work to that Comet....you have some mad skills. With that skill level....then your current Comet will be in good hands.:Handshake:

I'm new to late model Mavericks, Finding info to try to fix rather than scrap a '76 . So far no real info on available rear frame rails/spring hanger. I think I found they use specific channel and bushing dimensions?. Maybe just cut/adapt and swap easily available Mustang or Fairlane parts - if they are close to spring size... ?

Any info appreciated - '76 Six car :
Need : Spring width - eye dimensions - , bushing dimensions etc
    ..

    bushing size is an issue.
1" outer diameter on the maverick opposed to 1 3/8" on the mustang.
inner diameter should be identical with 1/2", though.
thus you should be able to get away with mixmatching parts.
width should be identical with 2 1/2" wide springs.

' might be able to use a pair of the Mustang spring eye section if spring width matches and just use 'stang bushings.

.. additional info or discussion on rear rails/hanger and pics appreciated.

    have fun
