Since I bought the 75 as a shell and in a 1000 or so pieces, the aggervation of putting it together can be very high. Especially since I didn't take it apart.. I put a new heater core and blower motor in it, and looking to mount it back in the car.. It's an AC car.. I got the thick rubber spacer that goes over the AC and heater core tubes that is used as a barrier between the heater core and firewall.. I'm thinking there is a metal bracket that goes over the rubber piece, but not for sure.. Any insight would be appreciated.. Why can't people label things when they take it off is beyond me.. I'm done venting now..
The very early 70 had a sheet metal plate. The rest of the Mavericks doesn't have a plate. You will see the foam seal from under the hood.
Chief, If you are trying to do the car up nice and that rubber spacer is all cracked and nasty, try spraying on several coats of "Plasti Dip." It will make it look like new again. http://www.plastidip.com/ Micah
Well 71gold I could spend most of the day venting, but I will spare ya.. The car had no drivetrain, glass, interior, half the wiring cut and gone. And he gave me several plastic tubs full of parts and said there ya go.. .. I wasn't going to buy it, but I love these cars and couldn't resist.. I'm getting there just slowly.. And the rubber spacer is new.. Appreciate it guy's.. Wasn't for sure if it had a metal spacer or not.. Now I know.. Good deal..
Chief, If you have not done so already, get yourself a CD with the service and parts manual on it. It saves a lot of grief. Micah
Here is some pix of my disassembled 73 unit. Can't say it will help ur cause, but can't hurt. I wud think they did not make many/if any changes in the setup. I am not clear on what ur referring to " a metal bracket that goes over the rubber piece". Are u talking about metal piece over the firewall rubber? I did not have a metal piece where u are referring.
Glad u cud get a better picture of what ur trying to achieve. I have many pic of my restoration of the ac/heater box. If I can help any way - just shout.
