This one shouldn't take too too long, but color choice and interior are choices I need to make. I am going to do Grabber Blue for this one. This car is a survivor and I'm really happy to have it since it has a 302, but with a 3 on the tree??? Weird, my 70 did with a 200, but I thought that the Grabbers had consoles and buckets. What header fit in these? The engine in this one will be done after the 2.3 EFI is in the Pinto and running. These are the pictures. I picked up the car yesterday.
The headers I have found with the best fit are Hooker 6901 also, relatively inexpensive. Good luck with your Grabber. Great score getting a 302 stick car!
Thanks, Found those headers and ordered them This had to go on the floor of course What's a good 5 speed to add to it?
You need to decide ultimately what you want to do with the car as far as increased horse power/torque. If you are planning on miner modifications a t5 will work fine. If you are planning on a lot more HP/torque you need more transmission.
The Grabber package did not include floor shift or console... AFAIK floor shifters were optional on every Maverick/Comet built and is how the original '70 could be advertised for $1995(before Grabber was introduced later in '70)... Everything was optional... This mostly continued through the full production of these cars...
I want this one built a tad honestly. Not too crazy, but some hp on it. I would like a 5 speed T56, would that fit do you think?
I didn't know that either about them. This has got to have a floor shifter and buckets along with a console of some time. I'll have to look into that and maybe try my hand at building one, scary thought!
I built one for my Grabber, had to have one that would hold the 7" touchscreen media center/computer, plenty of info on the web to get ideas from.
Yep, I need a 5 speed manual BTW Moneymaker. What do you have in yours? I have some work to do on this one. But the first thing, after my Pinto is done, is the engine. Have to find a transmission also!
I do not know for sure, but those headers MIGHT not work with a 3-speed on the column. Lots of stuff could be in the way. If your car has Power Steering you will need a drop bracket for that. I prefer the Doug Thorley shorties.
