White/Black 73 Grabber I recently purchased has beauty rings on the wheels and these on the white/orange one doesnt. So what are the wheels on my 73? Aftermarket or what? I know they are factory to the car, just wondering. miscpersonalpics002.jpg 5.jpg

I was just searching this on google and looks as if the ones with beauty rings like on my car are from 74 and later Torinos and only came in 14" wheel.

The ones without rings are Magnum 500's. I don't think they are orginal to your car although they are period correct. The ones with rings are Ford painted wheels. They came on a lot of ford cars not just torinos. Later model mavericks used them. I had a 1977 Maverick that came with them and they were 14"

Magnum 500 were available(std) on the Boss Mustangs and optional on 429CJ Torinos in 15", other Stangs & Torinos used 14" ...

AFAIK all the painted versions with trim rings are 14"...

Mine are 14" and I'm sure they didn't come on it.

OEM Ford, Styled Steel Wheels. I believe they were first available on Mavericks and Comets in 75 or 76. I often see lots of vintage pictures of them on Stallions, too. I had them on my 77 4dr.

I think they came to be along with the Granada/Monarchs when they came out in 1975.

Magnum 500's are chrome and do NOT have trim rings.

I just checked some brochures I had. The Styled Steel Wheels were STANDARD on 1975 Grabbers and 1976 Stallions, unless you upgraded to the Forged Aluminum Slots. I don't have a 1974 Maverick brochure, so I don't know if there were available then or not. I suspect they weren't available in 73 though.

Possibly you have Mopar wheels? I remember my mom's mid 70's Plymouth Volare wagon had magnum style wheels with beauty rings on them. Pretty sure they were 14" too. Driving that thing was like sitting in an aquarium. Nothin' but glass all the way around. haha

Even GM had a knock off of that style wheel.

Wasn't there an outside vendor that made these wheels and sold them to Ford, Chrysler, GM, AMC? That is why they all look the same.

They're all the same wheel, just not called the same name. Ford, GM, Chrysler, and AMC all used them.
Painted versions had stainless steel trim rings and chrome versions did not.
