Just purchased a76 maverick with 250 i engine i have access to a351 and transmission out of a78 ford econoline my question is would this motor and trans fit into this maverick with out heavy modification i know a302 will fit and bolt up to the c4 will the 351 do the same ? I'm assuming the transmission in the van is the c6 would this fit In the maverick to or would it be to wide In the trans tunnel ?

You can do a search on "C6" and see where this has been discussed before - it is a big trans for a little tunnel

Yeah i was afraid it might be to wide for the tunnel and I'm not looking too go modifying that area if the c4 bolts to it then i guess imll use that motor if not i,ll find a good running 289 or 302 not looking too build a race car just a nice cruising one

    A 351 is also tight fit but is doable... If possible I'd swap the 351 & C6 for a 302 & C4...

If ur not looking for a power house, I wud go for the 289/302 based/C4 if modifying is not on the agenda.

That transmission in the van could well be an FMX, not a C6. FMX will fit in a Mav. Little harder to get parts for but they were tougher transmissions than the C4's. The FMX bell unbolts from the outside. The bell and tailhousing will be aluminum, the main case is cast iron

You can get c4s now that will handle over a 1000HP,get the full rollerized planetary trans, doesn`t take much HP to pull them & they hold up really well.
