Anyone know what the stock jet size is on a 2 barrel motorcraft on a 73 302? My jets were clogged and I managed to get one out, the other one I had to pull out with an easy out...so it's destroyed. Can't see the stamped number on the jet.
I would love to and I will. Buy I am going to upgrade my exhaust first, I don't want to have lots of flow in and no flow out. I want to start this thing and make sure it's good mechanically. So I want to get it running and then pull the motor, reseal it, throw an intake, and carb on it, put headers and dual exhaust.
Well I got it all cleaned up and with a magnifying glass I made out 48F. So if anyone needs go know. A 1973 maverick with a 302 has 48F jets.
Ditto.. Number will be on upper rim... If the carb is varnished to the point the jets can't be removed, the small passage ways in the lower section will be plugged up... No chance it'll run correctly, without a good cleaning in carb dip for a few days... Still probably have to remove the plugs just above the idle mixture to get those open... BTW where are you going to source the jets? Other than Ford I don't think there was ever a aftermarket source...
I have an ultrasonic cleaner I like to put my carb bodies into. I went through a few cycles on this carb with hot water and purple power, then rinsed it off with water, and then coat it in wd40. Anyway, the thing looks brand new, all the passages are cleaned out nicely. I ordered a set of jets from eBay (NOS) and there are two websites I found that sell them as well. 4.99 a jet or 9.98 a set. I am about $30 into it with the rebuild kit and new jets. I also need to check the other motorcraft carbs I have to see what size jets they are, but I am pretty sure one came off a 351w and the other from an AMC 360 Jeep, so the jets will be bigger. This thing is pretty basic though, not any more complicated than a Holley is in my opinion.
They are simpler than a Holley... If those other carbs have 1.08 on left side of body/fuel bowl, they are same size as what you have... At least I'm assuming you have a 1.08 carb, what was factory on 289/302 small blocks... The 1.14(or maybe a 1.21) are a intermediate size used on 351, 352, and probably the 360 AMC you mentioned... Big blocks got a 1.33, those are getting difficult to find these days, sold last one I had to a roundy-round racer in some sort of stock class...
