That water pump you are looking at is for a 2.3 so it wont fit at all. which water pump you use depends on which pulley set and timing cover you are using. If using 70' timing cover and pulleys just buy one for a maverick. This is the one I'm using http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/carquest-water-pump-new-t3079/20760037-P?searchTerm=water+pumps I got this one cause I wanted aluminum. Here's a cast iron one for a mav http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/carquest-water-pump-new-t3078/5421608-P?searchTerm=water+pumps

Im looking at an 80's 302 and im going to look at it tomorrow, and I can tell what side the water pump is on. If it is on the wrong side, and I just swap the pulley system and timing cover for the right side?

A bigger problem is going to be from the '80s up the 5.0 has a rear sump pan with dipstick in block, can't be used in a Maverick... At the least you'll have to drill the front cover for dipstick tube, plus find a front sump oil pan and pickup... As far as water pump, I believe any std rotation with inlet on driver side can be used... Pumps with passenger side inlet are pre '70 and don't fit the later timing covers...

Ok so it can be done with a 80's set up but I would need a front sump pan oil pan, timing cover, dip stick, and oil pickup tube from an earlier model?

Those parts should work... The factory cover should have the dipstick pad, just not drilled...

Ford began switching to rear sump with the '78 Fairmont and by '80 I believe all V8 were rear sump... Be sure of what you have before buying anything...

What do you mean by that last part? I can make a rear sump engine into a front sump cant I?

    Yes, sorry for any confusion...

Just sayin be sure your engine is a rear sump, may get lucky and find a front sump engine so wouldn't need additional parts...

Also balance of flexplate/flywheel will be determined by year, '82 & newer are 50oz vs 28 of the older engines...

Ford 302/5.0 cranks will have 2M, 2MA, or 2MAE on one of the counterweights... The 2MAE are 50oz, the other two are 28 oz...

Yep engine I have has the late 50oz crank... Still except for 157T flexplate and replace broken dipstick tube, I didn't have to buy anything as my car is a factory 302... I reused pan, pickup, front cover, brackets, pulleys etc from orig engine...

Oh awesome, you got it real easy then. Well would you be able to help me find the motor mounts for the 302. Everywhere I look they look different, and I don't want to buy the wrong part.
