Does anyone know if they make an adapter to install my Motorcraft 2 bbl carb to a 4 bbl intake? I bought a Mr. Gasket adapter but the base for the Motorcraft 2 bbl is not large enough. It will leak air/fuel. The 2 bbl I have has a slightly larger base.

    Thanks

I have always changed the intake and carb at the same time. Never used a 4 barrels intake to a 2.

I'm lost here, a 2bbl Autolite/Motorcraft/Holley share the largest base pattern there is...

I am guessing he's talking about the adapter being too small for the carb. I have seen this when I was in auto parts (23+ years ago), some carbs have passages that extend beyond the adapter creating an issue.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The Motorcraft 2 bbl overlaps the adapter in the front by a good 1/4".

what you need to use is a flat plate under the carb to seal the gap!
Edelbrock used to sell a flat steal plate to do the job, the Idea of a 2 barrel on a 4 barrel manifolds was so the guys that were restricted to using a 2 barrel carb to confirm with class rules can use the latest in intake designs!

I actually have a motorcraft 2 barrel on my parts list, complete with adapter that came of a performer 289 manifold.
The motor was built by a drag racer, came with the 2 barrel and adapter....also had a shutoff for heater hose.
