I searched and didnt see anything on this Looking for some sound clips of your exhaust and what you have. I want to try and get a Idea of what the exhust sound like prior to doing it. Kinda thinking about exiting before rear tires? Maybe after rear tires? I have all the way out the back with duals now. My engine is currently stock with no mods but am considering a 347 upgrade.
    thanks all!!

Kinda hard to judge exhaust sounds since the heads, cam, compression, and a bunch of other things all have an effect. If your going to a 347 you'll want to install at least a 2 1/4" system with mandrel bends, 2 1/2" would be even better. And don't forget the crossover pipe.

It all depends on how loud you want it to be.

While some mufflers will certainly have a generally distinct sound character, as was already said.. there's a million different variables involved with "exhaust sounds" based on the engine build alone. I've seen some mufflers character completely change as the build becomes more powerful and extreme. Even pipe sizing, routing, hanger, and exit designs add variable. Take hotrocks fine example above. Add a crossover tube(balance pipe; h or x) to that combo and things start to change rather quickly.

I pay much attention to exhaust sounds and talk to owners whenever possible at the car shows. I also like surfing youtube and other big ford sites to find vid's and sound clips. Most muffler mfgrs also have vid's and sound clips on their websites nowadays too.

Main point is that a Ford smallblock is still a Ford smallblock no matter what car it's in and you'll most definitely find plenty more of them out there on the net in cars other than Mavericks and Comets. Just be sure to get combo specifics to make sure that sound will carry over correctly to your own personal build. Good luck on the hunt.
