I bought some nice aftermarket bucket seats a while back and am finally looking to install em. My car came with a bench seat. Is there a bracket i need to buy of fab to make these bolt in, or do i need to modify the floor beside a new bolt hole? Thanks for the help.
When we replaced the bench in my '72 we noticed that there were dimples in the floor that were where the inside bolts of the Mustang buckets needed to be. I used Summit seat brackets and slider tracks. One downside I have is that the front inside bolt of the drivers seat lines up perfectly with the parking brake pivot under the floor so getting a nut on that bolt is tedious. Bruce
You will find the area next to the tunnel is lower than the outer edges, so inboard seat tracks will need more height to level the seat. If it is a car with a catalytic convertor, the hump on the passenger side can be a problem. Also, rather than relying on the bench seat holes, pay attention to centering the bucket behind the steering wheel, or they may end up a bit inboard.
