They came with either 200, 250, or 302 engines. If the car was a 6 cylinder, then it would have 4 bolt wheels (71-72). The 302 car would have 5 bolt wheels.

thank you very much, would it be easy to swap from 4 lug to 5 lugs ? I;m guessing the rear end ratio is different so switching out rear axles and front spindles from 4 to 5 wouldn't be that easy? is that correct

No 4 barrel carbs ever came from the factory on Mavericks or Comets 1970-1977

There is a lot of info on this site about converting from 4 to 5 lug. I did the conversion this spring and summer, and it's quite involved depending on your mechanical ability. You can't just change axels on the rear, you need to swap out the whole differential, this has been debated on here before. For the front wheels, you need to change the spindles. But, do a search and you will find many threads on the subject. I hate to say, do a search every time someone asks a question though, because then why even have a forum, there could just be a search of archives.

There is generally two rear end ratios. 2.79 and 3.00. These can be in either 6 or V8 cars.

In the last year I bought 2 real 72 comet gts, the first one has a 250 inline 6 with 4 lug all around, the second one has a 200 inline 6 with 5 lug all around
