    Universal 1V Replacement Carb
    5.5" Chrome Air Cleaner (clamp-on)
Is this worth the money and upgrade, if it is?
I just want pretty basic stuff. More power and zip, but nothing extreme. Right now my '71 Maverick with a stock 200 runs smooth as silk. Just trying to modernize improve a bit.
    Thanks in advance.

if it runs smooth as silk, what's there to improve?
a new carb alone won't get you anywhere, it takes more to upgrade the inline six.
spend the money on a pertronix ignition and a decent exhaust with headers...

I've got the pertronix ignition ready to put in, with the new coil.
    Getting a K & N filter.
Also have the Hooker headers with a pair of Thrush Performance Turbo Mufflers on order.
    Thanks for the Carb opinion.
Is there anything else that I can do, without big rebuilding to give it a bit more zip?
    Thanks.

Keep in mind that once you make that car breath better you may find the stock carb will run lean on hard acceleration or climbing. Listen for detonation. I put a Weber DGAV on a suped up 250 and burned up a head this way.

My experience, don't waste the time and money. Go with an 8. But it looks like you are already committed.

if you insist on the six maybe theres a mild cam upgrade you can get maybe different springs on your head

but I agree spend the money on an 8 before you get to deep into that slug of iron called an engine.
some inlines can be fast but it takes TONS of money to make them fast. you will instantly be ahead if you just spent a few hundred bucks on a junkyard 5.0 . then all of the upgrades you can dream of are out there readily available with more and more coming out every day.

if you stay with the six leave it alone after installing the parts you already have

if it aint broke dont fix it. if youre going to fix it go for broke with a v8
    good luck

I think that's what I'll do. Just stay with the things I already plan to do. Didn't want to go too far in switching everything.
Thanks for the advice, so just going with the air filter, headers and ignition.
    Thanks Fellas!
