I had replaced everything to do with the power steering in my 73 Mav 302, (hoses, power steering pump, power steering control unit,) except the power steering cylinder. I replaced that today and when on the last leg of the install, where I was bleeding the system to remove any air bubbles, every time I spun the motor and tried to turn the steering wheel from stop to stop as instructed, the steering wheel would jerk out of my hand and turn from left to right and continue to do this until I stopped spinning the motor. It wouldn't do this until I tried to turn the wheel. WTH ? No way I can drive this until I get this issue fixed. Anyone ever have this problem? If so, what's causing this? Like I said, it didn't do this until I installed the new cylinder.

That was one of my thoughts, but thought for sure I had them lined up right for reinstall. I'll go swap them and try again. Is there a diagram anywhere for that?

    Thanks

That was the culprit. Here's the thing, I made sure the lines went back to the same position as was removed. The lines were crossed to begin with. Someone had crossed them before I worked on it. That being one of the main reasons why the power steering never worked in the first place.

    Thanks for the info guys.
