It's been a couple years since I have been on here. Life gets busy and other things take priority even if they are not. I started working on the 70 Maverick I'm restifying for my better half. It would be a little easier if the build was for me as we don't always see things the same way and it is her car I'm just the builder. I constantly remind myself of this...The recent work has been a complete front suspension rebuild including a disc brake conversion from a 1970 cougar donor car. I also located a nice straight rust free hood for it. I am deciding if I will fab up a power R&P or take the easy way out and locate a power box and pump. Progress is slow but it is moving in the right direction. The body is straight and the car is rust free with the exception of under the battery tray. I have been considering starting the body work but I think I'll put it off until all the mechanical is completed, not much more to do there anyway. I have been a little hesitant to start buying interior parts like headliner, carpet and dash pad before I can see the quality if these parts in person. That's about it just checking in to see whats up, whats new and how other projects are progressing.
Heres a couple pics of it. The interior is black. She is undecided on the color she want's but is leaning to the red/orange color offered for the Maverick/ mustang. I really want to install a turbo on the engine but that was shot down. She even declined a upgrade to AFR heads. The heads may happen anyway, well because it doesn't have hardened seats...
Thank you. The pic was taken before the suspension rebuild and brake upgrade with 5 lug larger brakes out back. I agree the heads must go, easy power, weight reduction and hardened exhaust seats. I blue printed and rebuilt the 289 thats in it and I had the seats done and the bowls hogged with a port match and blend but she doesn't know that.
