My Comet came with the same spoiler attached. Best I can guess is that it is from a 82 - 84 Firebird.

Could be right because the Fiero looks a bit smoother with rounded corners. Tons of knockoffs out there too. Should be fairly easy to figure it out for sure by measuring the pedestal spacing.

whatever it is and either way.. I seriously think it would look much better from a side profile if it were mounted more rearwards so it would more effectively extend the rear trunk lid of the car. Give it a "faster back" so to speak.

I don't think they would allow a 'modified' plate, but you never know unless you try. I think you are right about the 1974 plates having stickers. The plates we have are March 1975. The only year that had a month stamped in them as far as I know. I think they expired then because all the ones after March of 1975 were the 1776-1976 Bicentennial plates that they used for a while.

VA still requires a front plate, but we don't run them on our antique cars. We haven't had any problems not running them, knock on wood.

When our '75 GT was repainted by the previous owner he decided to paint the rear panel and the hood stripe in gloss black instead of satin. I wish it was done correctly, but I have gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me much anymore. There are plenty of items that have been changed on the car, so not being original isn't really a big deal.

Editing my original post- question about Comet / Mav rear wing/spoilers:

Did Comet GT ever have a factory rear wing-type spoiler? .

    No.

The Comet GT didn't even have the ducktail rear spoiler like came on the early years of the Maverick Grabber.
    .

    > Here's another rear wing that looks exactly like on my '76, and a four door even looks pretty good with it. - Was there an aftermarket WING or favorite swap from another car that matches these two wings?:

The photo of the Maverick with Cougar tail lights is a wing for a 71 - 73 Mustang and is mounted backwards. The photo of the Comet looks nearly identical to the wing on mine, which I believe to be from a 80's something Firebird.

Those Firebird spoilers are very heavy. Your trunk lid will never stay open without a prop-rod or gas lifts.

If I remember correctly Cuda's and/or Challengers had a wing similar to the Mustangs.
