Got the trunk spoiler done. It's one inch taller than stock and blended in. Working on finding something to permanently attach the spoiler quarter extensions to the quarter panel. Will use panel bond if I can't find an alloy to work.

Now in final primer I was able to put the wheels on and roll her out in the sun for a little bit of a natural bake cycle to aid in fully curing the primer. This coming weekend I will start the final sanding and prep for paint. Spraying the body over Labor Day weekend.

Love what you are doing with your Maverick. The attention to detail is awesome. You are a true craftsman. I have enjoyed watching you build

So the aftermarket hood don't fit as good as a stock one? What was off the front and the lines on the rear?

No I didn't mean it that way. This new hood fit extremely well and I was very impressed with the overall fit and finish.

The issue for me was, I have hours upon hours gapping and fitting the Mav Man CF hood to my car. As good as this hood fit, I would have had to realign things and "tweak" things to get the same fit, that I wasn't willing to do at this stage of the game. Had I had the new hood back in January when I had the time to fit it to my standards, I would have. But I am already in the painting process and its just to late to make that change now.

In the end I shouldn't have bought it. Not because I am disappointed in it, but because it was just too late in the game for me to make that move. I would highly recommend this hood to anyone that wants a Grabber hood, it really is nice.

I actually thought about that at one point. To make another one out of steel as I did mine, most guys wouldn't pay for. I have 40 hours into it and hundreds of $$ in material between the metal, and all the body supplies and paint. It wouldn't be cost effective. I if I was paying myself to make that from start to finish I would have $2k in labor (I charge $50 an hour for my work), and another say $500 in all the materials. Who in their right mind would pay me $2500 to make a gauge bezel? If you are willing step right on up! LOl.......

What I should have done, and could have done, was make a mold of it and have them made in fiberglass. Just never got around to doing it. And now its fully assembled and painted and ready to go in the car. Its just too late. Although again, the cost. By the time molds were made, then to have the bezels repopped I imagine they would have run between $3-500 each. Not many Maverick people willing to drop that on a gauge bezel I'm guessing.

Ok, so it has been a very eventful week for me and my project!!

On Monday morning I loaded it up into a friends trailer and brought it to the booth. It took me 7 hours to fully mask it off. Lots of work for a car that the engine compartment and underside are already painted. Even in a down draft booth I wanted to keep the overspray at a minimum.

Here is it about to go in the trailer.....

And now in the booth on jack stands all masked up. A small fortune was spent on masking tape and plastic sheeting. Thank you 3M for the generous donation of products!!

    In basecoat.....

As a reminder I am using PPG Envirobase HP waterbase system. Again, huge thanks to PPG for the donation of products.

    And clear.......

Funny how much darker the color looks in the booth for some reason. It really is a much brighter color than it shows here.

In any case, at this point I bagged the car and prepared it to spray the filler panel above the package tray. Grey sealer, black base and then matte clear.

after that dried I unmasked it, put the wheels back on and dropped it off of the jack stands. It was raining here today so didn't get it outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, so I am bringing the truck and trailer to bring it home. Pics of it outside will come later this weekend.

    Love, love, love this color.......
