thanks, I never think of power tools :/
But does that tool need to be on top of the Tie Rod? Actually pushing it out and not pulling it? That is going to be an issue as I don't have the equipment to take the arm it's in out either

I doubt there is enough space above arm to mount puller... Heat on arm is a option, should then come out with a light tap...

Now here's how I do it...

Support the arm with a bottle jack or similar(not on stud), under sector shaft is good... Since you are not reusing the stud, smack it from top side with a large hammer.... In instances where stud would be reused, screw on nut till it lacks approx one turn being even, smack nut from above... Key is have enough support under pitman arm that it is solid, blindly beating on stud/arm could damage the steering sector... Again heating the arm should make it easy to get out...

If you can't get a good angle to hit it(one blow is all it should take), use a large bar to reach it from above...

Thanks, if the pitma arm tie rod puller I got (pretty tiny) doesn fit or work I'll follow those precise instruction! The support is a strong point I would totally have not thought of!

So the tool was pretty small and did the trick, the tricky part was making a wrench fit up there to turn it but it worked! Now all is left to do is install the control valve in hoping I did everything right with the rebuilt kit haha

Just get the cylinder hoses on correctly and you should be fine...

I was reluctant to rebuild mine but it was only assisting in one direction, didn't have a lot of choice(found dirt inside)... Since the addition of P/S was already in the Cobra Jet's future, figured it was a good time to learn...

Great to hear you removed the stud with the puller, good luck on the rest of your rebuild!

Guess what? Yep, put them wrong so the wheel jerked out of my hands and went back under, corrected it and I'm about to take it for a test drive.

Steering is way tighter, no constant left right to correct with lots of looseness so great. Was still a bit loose so I tightened the adjustment bolt thing on the steering gear box and now the car drives amazingly, but now that it's not iffy anymore I can tell it's pulling to the right so in need of alignement.
