I've got a temp gauge, a boost gauge and an oil pressure gauge ready to go in and now it's a question of where to put them. I really want them to be off to the side of the windshield on the pillar, but the Mavericks pillar is so small that none of those pod setups will work. Plus it seems the dash won't allow the "tubes" and stuff for the gauges come up through the dash to go over there anyway. Are there any points in the dash where I can drill holes to put them on, provided I angle them towards the driver? Is there a way to put them on the pillar? Any ideas or opinions, guys?

Here is where I put my 2 5/8 gauges. Easy no cutting. I made two flat bracket on both ends of the triple gauge setup; and drilled two holes in bottom of dash. Problem solved.
The opening just abv the radio has a door covering shelf tray opening since these pic were made. Works well for me. Gud Luck.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
    Looks nice(y)

    But...

His car will have a full dash not the tray.....most guys mount them either in the radio spot or under the dash. I have mine under the dash, but i will be moving them up to were the radio originally went....

Isn't it a pain in the butt to see them when you're driving given the angle they're at?

Yep. full dash for me. The bottom has been removed for some time, though. I'm going over some different ideas right now. If I can do it right it should turn out good. The wildest/craziest idea I've had so far is to drill the stock cluster at the bottom corners and try to mount 2 gauges there.

Not the best picture but this is how mine are mounted, before i put my lower dash in i had them hook to the bottom of the dash with 3 shet metal screws.

For the important ones like oil and temp turn the guages in the mounts so that normal range would put the needles at 12 oclock roughly. Then you only need a quick glance to see all is good. Its old school but it works great.

I have my tach on the dash. I just drilled out a hole in the slots where the speaker used to be and ran it through there

No problem seeing them. They are large 2 5/8 and the brackets swivel; a few degrees is all I need. I wud just guess they will swivel somewhere like 15 degress max.; more than enough for me.
I am over 65 yrs, eyes ain't the best - If I can see them most anyone shud be able to see them.

Since we are on the subject of gauges, always wondered how many wires there are when trying to attach a Tach. Is it hard to wire one?

And speaking of which, I was thinking of removing the lighter and mounting it there. How do you remove the lighter though?

Four, and no. Repeat after me: "Black, red, green, white. Ground, hot, signal, light." Done.
