Redoing my front end next month in my 70. Already have UCA, LCA, with ball joints, sway bar bushings, strut rod bushings all moog. and getting shocks. Still gotta get inner and outter tie rods and idler arm. My question is should I replace my coils while I'm at it ? I'm sure they're factory or at least 20yrs old. Looking at the moog ones which are reasonably priced. Says they offer two different ones. I'm debating going with the HD ones because my car has a v8 swap so heavier than factory intended. Questions, opinions, comments, concerns ?

I wud replace those coils while everything is out. I have Moog 8306's on my car. There is a chart somewhere on this forum w/ spec's on their springs. Spring rates, length, coil diameter, etc. I like ride quality of my springs but they may sit car a little higher than some like. I am not considering cutting/trimming anything off them -- leaving them just as they are. The centerline of my bumper is 19"5 in from ground -- if that gives any idea of what I have.

I just checked mine is about 18.750 from the ground to center of bumper.
But will probably gain a inch when I get new shocks

I finished my front suspension in June and I love it, I replaced just about everything except the UCA's since they were only a few years old. New LCA's new spring perches (Stock) new tie rods inner and outter, replaced the tie rod adjusters with a set of one piece adjuster sleeves that a memeber sells here, also put a 7/8 addco front sway bar on. I love how it feels and rides

    Hey Kyle:
How long did you have to wait for the 7/8" diameter ADDCO sway bar ?? Just got ours last week for a 72 Maverick we're building for my Daughter after waiting since FEBRUARY .. Just curious ! Maybe Addco was jammed up ?? Definitely like the 7/8" Sway Bar .. I have it on another Maverick and it drives like it's on RAILS ..

Do u have a rear anti-swaybar on the car? Any other mods, such as frame connectors? The 7/8 bar made that much difference over stock bar? I think I saw somewhere these cars came w/ two size's of bars, depending on options on car!

    Hey Chip,

I bought the bar from a member here on the site around march I think, i was looking at the bar from addco themselves but they said they were back ordered and didn't know when they would be available,

    Mojo,

For me the upgraded bar made a huge difference, I am really satisfied with how it drives. I did buy a 3/4 addco rear sway bar for the car but havnt installed it yet, I hope it works just as good as the front

Did you have a bar on the front prior to putting the 3/4 bar on? I have OE bar, but don't think it's 3/4".

I had a 11/16 stock bar up front and went to a 7/8 addco bar

After the 5.0 swap with aluminum intake, heads, headers etc mine stood on it's toes with orig springs... I wound up using the lightest 6cyl springs avail for 70-72 models...

    Hi Kyle:
Since ADDCO sent me the bar that was back-ordered for months they MAY be out of the woods and could
fill orders for Mavericks and Comets if anyone else out here is interested. If I planned to build ' another ' car
I would invest in one just to HAVE it when I wanted it but I think I'll just stay with the cars I already have.
I've determined also that if you have a stock 3/4" inch sway bar AND air shocks it's a combination that could
contribute to sway or lean when cornering. It seems the Air Shocks have an opposite effect on the inertia of the
car while in that state. I tossed the air shocks on my Daughters Maverick and put some KYBs in and new shocks
for the Front plus the bigger sway bar . Should make a difference and improve the handling. We'll see eh ?
