Hi everyone. I'm trying too test my sending unit in my tank since my gauge doesn't work. I tried grounding the plug and the gauge didn't move. Then I used my power probe and checked the plug and I had ground on one terminal and also read a ground at the other terminal with a slight power reading. So I supplied power to that terminal using the power probe and the gauge at the dash moves everytime. Does this mean the sending unit is bad since i'm showing ground and the wires seem tobe good to the dash since I can give it power and move the needle? Thanks everybody

If you jump the two prongs in the plug at the tank.....gas gauge should read full.

Thanks Craig. I'll have to try that. I think I did everything but jump them that way. I'll let you know what happens.

This is enormously helpful, my gauge will only read up to 7/8 full. I'll have to try it to see if it's in my sending unit!

Hey Craig, I ran a jumper from one side to the other on my plug going to my fuel sending unit and sure enough the fuel gauge moved up. Guess I need a sending unit. Thanks.

    I'm with Tody, sunk float
when you pull the sender, ground it, then move the arm to see if the gauge moves.

All I did was re-seal the brass float where it fastens to the arm. Cheaper than replacing the entire assembly.
