My neighbor is selling his maverick, basically a roller, with 302 engine, car has no bumper, grille, headlights or trim, rear bumper, interior at all, tail lights, markers, or transmission and driveshaft, it was a 6 cylinder originally but it has 5 lug wheels so someone must have changed it for an 8 at some point, he wants 750, does this seem reasonable or should I keep looking? Also the body is in good shape, little rust, some poor bondo work in quarters and rockers

All 73-up Mavericks came with 5-lug wheels. Sounds over priced with all that's missing

Post some pictures of it. If the body is in nice shape it is worth it. If not, then sounds like a parts car.

Welcome to the site from northeast Ohio!!! :tiphat:

Keep looking; you would spend more on missing, worn out and bent parts than that particular car would be worth.

Body is beat up, and someone has done body work on it, I'd run away, especially with all that's missing.

Thanks for the advice! Is there a price where you'd actually consider working with it? Or part it out and let it go

Personally, having done a lot of body work, and seeing prices, I'd pay just a little bit more and get a straight roller, if you're looking for a roller. It's always worth it in the end to get something with a nice, straight, mostly rust free body, because you'll end up paying way more than that extra for the body work, either by paying someone to do it, or with loads of your time.

If there are some good parts worth selling, you could try to offer him... $400, and then sell, or use the parts. If it has granada discs, those can be parted, IDK if you'd be able to sell any body parts off of it, I see rot coming through and lots of sketchy filler work. Maybe the drivers side is better?

    Just my 2 cents

If the tires were new they would be worth more then the car

You say it has a 302 included? If that engine is fresh, there is $750 right there.
Need more info about the motor before I decide ..........

I'd offer $400 and they can take it or leave it.

He looks desperate to me. Offer him $200 and use it as parts to rebuild a better Maverick when you find one. You will miss the 5 lug parts when you locate a 4 lug that you want to put a V8 in.
