need to know if any of you have done a mustang 2 suspension swap and how difficult was it. My 76 mav is going to get a twin turbo 302 and i need to eliminate the shock towers for added space thanks.

Kit or stock mustang II? We have Rod & Customs kit in our Maverick, tubular A arms, 1" drop spindles, and power rack. Very nice set up and very easy to install the best part is everything is there so you don't have to buy more parts like brakes, brake lines, fittings, steering shaft, and motor mounts The only down side is the cost.

Mavman has done this project using an original MS II front end. Disc brakes and tubular A arms were added at a very nominal cost. Is a bit more work than using the store bought kit, so that has to be taken into consideration too. I may have some pic's of it if he does not.

Do a search in the forums for mustang 2 or turbo, either one. I have done both projects, though the turbo project was a single turbo, not twin turbos. It worked well...too well...the 302 block is the weak link in most any turbo 302 application. The turbos usually will flow enough air to bring the 302 to an easy 600-700 HP....which is far beyond what they're capable of and the main webs usually break or worse...the block would split down the middle. But, the M2 front end is a great way to get a TON of extra room, at the expense of a LOT of work, time, and more importantly, $$$. In the meantime, I'll leave you with some pics of the project in various stages.

That does look pretty good! How much does it cost about to do something like that?

Depends on how "nice" you want it to be. Anywhere from $500-$5000 is a good "guesstimate"

You can buy front frame kits already set up for M2/Pinto style suspension, you can get the M2/Pinto crossmember kit ready made for your frame width, or you can buy a complete chassis kit....but if I had to do it over again, I'd go with struts instead. Even more room and lighter weight....though $2000 is a little hard to swallow....and that's JUST for the struts, brakes, spindles, and springs.

Word of caution though, don't undertake a project like this unless you know absolutely sure of what you're doing and you have excellent welding/fabricating skills--Especially if you're going to drive on the street. It ain't for the faint of heart. I actually think that backhalfing and installing the tubs & sheetmetal was easier than the M2 swap.

yeah ,i've seen stock 302 blocks crack right down the middle with about 15 psi. i'm gonna limit the boost to 10 psi , maybe 12 for just a couple passes until i build a real engine with an aftermarket block. but instead of the 302 i'm going to go for a 351 stroker, i'm leaning towards a 408. thanks for your help.
