Just picked up a Comet and someone took the big bumpers off.I need to finish swapping to little bumpers.I read the thread's on here to make a parts list. But what can I use from a Maverick and what parts Have to be from a Comet?Been looking for a Comet for a longtime. Are the trunks same from a Maverick to a Comet? Thanks Hope to make a thread and post build pics soon.

:Welcome: ........... congrats on the Comet purchase!

The trunk, rear bumper, Maverick to Comet is the same. But the front bumper and stone guard are different because of the different grille shape. I'm not sure on the front valance.

Congratulations on finding a COMET !!
The front stone guard is a unique shape as are the bumpers. COMET Small bumpers and stone guards for the small bumpers are sometimes difficult to locate . Even if you find a stone guard that's a little ' rough ' ... Get It !! That piece is rare !
Just my take on your search. ( I don't have an extra one or I'd help you out )

If the Maverick parts car has a set of Small FRONT and REAR Bumper Brackets .. Get Them .. You can make them work on a COMET .

The valence is the same for a Comet and a Maverick. A NEW repop is available for that.

The Comet front bumper uses the same main frame brackets as the Maverick with the addition of two small arms that are added to the center area of the bumper to stabilize the nose of it. If you get Mav brackets, hopefully you can find those two arms or if handy, fab a couple out of perhaps 1/4 inch rod. I believe these added brackets are there to help prevent the added protruding area of the bumper from vibration. I saw ONE NOS Comet nose bracket for sale on eBay not that long ago.

I have some Mav brackets for sale .... http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/thin-front-bumper-and-brackets.109626/
I also have a Comet stone guard here that I can sell. The main part of it is good, but it was bolted to rusty fenders are a little punky in those areas. Probably a good item to use Rust Bullet on to rebuild. Same with a couple of my brackets.

PM me if interested. I can get you pics of the stone guard, might be Sunday before I can get to it.

That blue grabber looks pretty good for a parts car. Is it worth saving?

Too bad about the rust - but parked in a field will rot them very quick. :(

Get every part you can off. You will be surprised at how may little parts there are that come in handy to have for your own use, sale or trade.
