Kept it. Works pretty well. The fan comes on half as much as when I had the stock radiator.

The Taurus does not sat square or parallel to the radiator in the stock car . There a slight taper . you need to trim the taper out the shroud and move the as close to the radiator as possible . I used a corrugated paper about 3/16" thick
as a set up spacer from radiator to fan blades for clearance and trim shroud to fit. There is pic in my gallery of how to trim the shroud. And you still may need to cut water pump shaft flush with pulley .

Champion 3 row. Between radiator and WP pulley I have barley 3 1/2 inches

I have a 3 row A/C rad with a trimmed Taurus fan and still have enough room.

At 65mph, the fan isn't accomplishing anything. You don't even need a fan at that speed.
The fan is for low speeds and idling. There is obviously a problem somewhere else.

It was a Ford part # D2......... It was listed as a OEM rad for a 72 Comet with A/C. That rad is 40+ years old and still works fine.

you might want to look at one of these they come off the 1990s volvos. They run the same fan as the Taurus and the fan doesn't come with a shroud that has to be cut! From some rough measurements it looks like this will fit with a champion 3 core radiator. I am going to try it in a few weeks IMG_2149.JPG
