    I was cleaning up a 1970 driveshaft and these are the marks that were on it just wonder what they mean? IMG_4315.JPG

    They correspond with the colors listed on the build sheet. That way the assembly line workers knew which driveshaft to install. Not by part number....but by "colors". Easier to do it that way on a fast paced assembly line with lots of different cars rolling down the line.

    I think I'm going to sand the rust off and leave the original markings and clear it (not that anyone will see it) but I like it.

    I'm amazed at the longevity of some of these tags. I've seen them in pristine condition on parts that are rusted to high heaven.
