So,

When we spin the motor for a compression test, will the transmission lines previosly attached to the radiator be pressurized?

Frank - lots of small leaves, spider webs, etc.

Lay the starter between the shock tower and fender and see if it spins. I know it sounds dumb but I couldn't get mine to spin using jumper cables but it would spin laying on the shock tower to get its ground.

 

they will spit fluid if not hooked to radiator...

 

I grounded directly to the starter housing where it bolts to the tranny, should have been a great path for power, had plenty of spark

 

Before you try to start it for the first time turn it over by hand a quarter turn and give it another squirt of atf and let it sit a while, do this until you have 360 degrees of rotation. When you try to start it for the first time pull the coil wire so it will not start and let it build up some oil pressure. Before you change the oil put a little diesel in the oil and run it for a short time and let it wash the insides of engine.

An old trick that mechanics used to is let the car run with a little higher than idle and drizzle some water down the carb, not enough to kill it. This will help to get carbon deposits off of the valves and top of pistons.

I did too and it wouldn't spin. That is why I said "I know it sounds dumb". Once I had it laying on the inner fender the starter motor about jumped out of my hand when I touched the jumper cable to the starter terminal. I been scratching my head for 40 something years on why grounding directly to the housing with a jumper cable did not work, but touching the starter on the car to get the ground did work. I even tried again with the cables with the starter on the driveway and nothing but sparks with no spin.

A 1/2 quart would be fine, there is another product called Seafoam that you could put in and just leave it in after oil change

Seafoam is a brand name with a whole range of products. Which product are you recommending? (Just trying to be helpful).

I'd say it's too crusty. For an extra $96 you can get a new one.

Could use the Seafoam Motor Treatment and could also use the Seafoam Gas Additive but I was mainly thinking motor
